can nri invest in agriculture land?

No NRI's are not allowed to buy Agri lands. Infact NRI's are not allowed to invest in fields like Agri,edcutation etc. Some states like Maharastra requires that you are from a farming background to even buy lands. Just a year or so back there was a huge backlash on Amitabh and Aamir khan for buying agri lands stating their profession is acting and why they bought a lot of agri lands
near pune. Lot's of NRI are investing in agri without proper knowledge and it is only a matter of time before the government does something crazily like taking over all the agri lands owned by NRI's and so on. So be carefu
