how to get property transfer in my name
my father has passed away recently, and my mom, borther, n sister are ready to give me my share by way of gift, but the property is in mumbai and ahmedabad how do i get it done in my name, and are there any taxes etc..please advise
There are no taxes or stamp duty payable in case of gifted property to relatives. You will need to contact a revenue lawyer in Mumbai / Ahem to draft a gift deed and along with the death certificate of your father contact the sub register's office to register the property in your name.
The entire family will need to travel to Mumbai for this purpose. You can also take a specific power of attorney in your name from other members of your family if they don not want to travel to Mumbai for this purpose.
